The PSA screen is a method used to determine if you have prostate cancer. This simple blood test measures your prostate-specific antigen, an enzyme produced only by the prostate, to reveal whether your levels are normal or elevated. Elevated levels are an indication of prostate cancer.
The American Urological Association recommends every man 50 years or older should have an annual PSA screening combined with a physical exam by a physician. Regardless of age, a PSA screen, along with 22 other lab tests in the Comprehensive Male Panel, gives you and your doctor all the information necessary to measure your overall health.
